Are you successful yet ?

A conversation I have been having with myself and my husband Mathieu this week.

  • What is success?
  • How do we know when it hits?
  • What can we do to make sure it happens to us?

A line that jumps into my head when I think of this topic.

Are we there yet?

Are we there yet?

Are we there yet?

My poor dad's ears bled regularly driving us from Cork to Wexford, to visit cousins. 10mins into the journey and the chiming began.

Daaaaaaaaad....Are we there yet?

I could feel the grip intensify on that steering wheel whilst my lovely Mum dished out more gob blocking food items, through gritted teeth. A funny memory.

Anyway, my point with this entry point in today's blog is this;

Success, are we there yet?

Let's dive into this subject as I think it is important to make friends with it and have a clear vision of what success means.

I want you to ask yourself this, if you had a magic wand right now and your wish was for Success, what would that look like?

Be specific.

Start with opening your eyes on a Monday morning as a 'Successful' person.

  • What happens?
  • Where are you?
  • How does it feel?
  • What do you see?
  • Who are you with?

Drill down the moments from your 'successful' day.

Visualise it - make friends with it.

Some people define success with money. We are conditioned to link the two elements but in my mind it goes way beyond that.

How are we conditioned?

The published definitions look like this

a person or thing that has had success, as measured by attainment of goals, wealth, etc.:

But guess what-wealth may mean Success in the literary sense but then Success does not equal happiness.

Let's look at changing our Success benchmark to that of happiness.

Let's redefine Success - Success is when you have achieved happiness in your life. Do you know what that looks like? Happiness?

There is no point in your putting huge amounts of effort and energy into building a business that needs you to lead a team, if you are allergic to managing people.

There is no point putting Fairs into your core sales strategy when you hate every minute of them.

Remember YOU are the creator of your reality. You decide how it is done. Just be clear as to what Success means to you and work backwards.
